Off Again

This is going to be a busy early summer for me. My brother and sister are both graduating in the next few weeks, and there’s an engagement party for my sister as well. I’m off to Washington tomorrow morning for my sister’s graduation from Med School, so that’s pretty impressive.

Hopefully when I get back I can upgrade WP and set up some comment spam filtering.

I can also change the template for the site a bit. I mean, my profile picture is a set of dice. I guess dice are okay, but do they really represent me?

GFW Podcast

If you’re into PC Games at all, you should be listening to the Games for Windows Radio podcast. Not only do they frequently have interviews with PC developers, but they also talk about current games they’re actually playing. One of the podcast regulars, Sean Elliott, also does a series of skits. My current favorite is his “Whiskey Nerd” voice, a sample of which is available on youtube*.

This week’s episode has Flagship Studio’s CEO Bill Roper on it, to talk about their new game “Hellgate London”. You might remember Bill Roper one of the early Blizzard games. If you don’t you might recognize his voice as an Orc Peon!

* Ugh, I’d like to embed that, but I need to upgrade WordPress some time, I guess.

Things I’ve learned from moderating comments

#1 – I need a spam filter

#2 – Some people also think the Spence Diamonds ads are clown shoes. Sorry if your comment got deleted, I had 1000 of them to go through!

Most girls lookin right, some lookin a mess

Holy shits, I intended to put this post up when I got from Mexico a full 6 weeks ago. It’s not timely at all, but I want to talk about some other stuff, and I can’t have people riding a cliffhanger about how my vacation went. Are you ready? Here goes!

I’m back from Mexico, which was a nice break. I realize my post heading is not only repeating Ludacris from my previous post, but I thought it was appropriate (if not 100% accurate) given that I spent my time lying on a beach watching some fat goddamn people walking around. Some of the guys there looked like red Grimaces.

We arrived near the end of spring break, which meant there were a lot of college girls walking around in sparkling bikinis. You’d think that would be, you know, awesome. But it was actually pretty depressing because they were all there with their boyfriends. Which reminded me of relationship ruin! Even though I’m seeing someone now! Oh my god /emoface

My brother and I managed to get sunburned on the first day, due to waiting outside at the Pizza bar at noon. The resort was all-inclusive, so there was booze and buffet for every meal. The cafeteria fare got tired pretty quick, so we ended up eating out a lot. We went to an Argentinian steakhouse a couple of nights, and I had a breaded chicken breast the size of a dinner plate (schnitzel style), and it was fucking awesome, sir. If that restaurant was in Toronto, I would be 500 pounds and deceased.

There is a really cool nightlife in Mexico, but that’s not really my scene, so I stayed in and read Neil Gaiman’s “Anansi Boys” and the first book in the Warcraft “War of the Ancients” trilogy, “The Well of Eternity”. I also put a bunch of time into the new Castlevania DS game, “Portrait of Ruin”, which is really very good.

I also watched a bunch of late night Mexican television. Did you know that the proper pronunciation of “Hugo Boss”, if you’re Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, is “oooogoboz?” I do, thanks to foreign television. That’s not even a slag on a bad dub. That’s the way he says it. Is it correct? I don’t know, but it’s pretty funny. You have to purse your lips at the end, though.
